The 4 Awards:

The LMPS Pharmacy Program promotes and recognizes excellence among its members and faculty. Four awards are presented annually.

resident of the year award

Purpose:  To promote and recognize excellence in all aspects of professional development in the residency program.

Description:  Awarded to the resident who consistently demonstrates the highest level of commitment and excellence in all aspects of the residency program including patient care, research, education, and practice management, and serves as a role model to other residents and students.

Selection Criteria:  Nominations invited from preceptors/teachers. At the discretion of the Council, it could be co-awarded.

resident impact award

Purpose: To recognize contributions by a resident to the well-being of their fellow residents and the program.

Description:  Awarded to the resident who consistently goes out of their way to help, support, and inspire their colleagues while maintaining a positive attitude.  The recipient frequently volunteers their time to maintain, advance, and promote the residency program and residency pharmacy practice. The hallmark of the award is a selfless attitude and a devotion to their peers and the profession.

Selection Criteria:  Nomination and voting by residents. At the discretion of the Council, it could be co-awarded.

new preceptor of the year award

Purpose: To recognize excellence in teaching, precepting, and mentoring residents. 

Description: Awarded to the preceptor who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for the residents. This is a person relatively new to precepting that has demonstrated outstanding potential, commitment to and involvement with the residents and freely serves as an educator, mentor, and advisor to them. 

Award recipients should display the following qualities: 

  1. A record of significant contributions to residency training in the role of preceptor and mentor

  2. Leadership qualities

  3. Well-respected by peers

  4. Innovation

  5. Demonstrated leadership in his or her own pharmacy practice

  6. Active participation in education, and research

  7. Evidence of instilling these qualities in their residents

Selection Criteria: Nomination and voting by residents.  Less than 5 years of involvement in the residency program.  No repeat recipients.  

veteran preceptor of the year award

Purpose: To recognize sustained excellence in teaching, precepting, and mentoring residents. 

Description: Awarded to the preceptor who has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty for the residents. This is a person that has demonstrated sustained commitment to and involvement with our resident for at least 5 years and freely serves as an educator, mentor, and advisor to them. 

Award recipients should display the following qualities:

  1. A record of significant contributions to residency training in the role of preceptor and mentor

  2. Leadership qualities

  3. Well-respected by peers

  4. Innovation

  5. Demonstrated leadership in his or her own pharmacy practice

  6. Active participation in education and research

  7. Evidence of instilling these qualities in their residents

  8. A track record of having a positive influence on the future careers of pharmacy residents.

Selection Criteria: Nomination and voting by residents.  Recipients are ineligible for the following FOUR program cycles.  Minimum FIVE years of involvement in the residency program.
