Residency Program Updates: What Preceptors Need to Know

Join us this month for annual updates on the Residency Program. We will be reviewing the changes made for the 2022-23 cohort, plus providing new information on procedure logs, evaluation form improvements, CPRB Accreditation Standards updates, and our exciting Year 1 & 2 Strategic Planning that is currently underway. There are 2 opportunities to join:

Thursday, Sept 7 from 12:00-12:45

Wednesday, Sept 20 from 12:15-1:00

Please see email from your Site Coordinator for zoom links, or contact mhinch@providencehealth.bc.ca.

Not able to attend either live presentation? The session will be recorded and posted on the LMPS website under Residency Program Presentations. The presentation handout will be distributed through Site coordinators. I hope to see you there, and I look forward to your questions and suggestions for ongoing program improvements!

Welcome 2023-24 Residents!

We are excited to welcome 35 new residents to our program beginning on Monday, June 12. The new rotation and academic day schedules have been posted on our website. We have also circulated the residents’ personal bios and group picture to the Site Coordinators. Please contact Michelle Hinch or Penny Bring if you did not receive a copy. Please join us in welcoming the next generation of clinical pharmacists!

Call for Research Project Proposals

I would like to invite LMPS preceptors to submit a research project proposal for the incoming residency cohort. Every year we receive many impactful submissions, and I appreciate the enthusiasm everyone demonstrates to support research. Now is your chance to be a part of it! Proposal deadline is Friday, April 15, but if you have something in the works and need an extension, please contact us directly.

Thanks for your consideration and continuous support of the LMPS Residency Program!

Changes to Delivery of Preceptor and Rotation Evaluation Sendouts

Starting Jan 1, 2023, preceptors will notice “Evaluation of Preceptor and Rotation” completed by residents appearing in your one45 inbox at the end of every rotation. This is a change from the annual delivery of feedback. We believe that it is in the preceptors’ best interests to receive timely feedback that can be implemented in a timely manner for future rotations. We also believe it is important for open communication and constructive feedback to occur between residents and preceptors. I hope you find this change supportive of your practice.
